Crowded existing facilities and new concepts in Neonatal Intensive Care have lead Stormont-Vail Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas to an innovative design concept.  Working with James Harrell, FAIA, Frank Zilm & Associates, Inc. assisted the hospital in the program and development concepts for remodeling of vacated space to provide a family-focused neonatal intensive care unit.  The proposed design will include individual patient rooms, a circular layout, and separate public and staff circulation patterns.
