In October of 1999 the Cleveland Clinic Health System retained Frank Zilm
& Associates, Inc. to undertake master planning studies for three of the
Systems hospitals - Hillcrest Hospital, Euclid Hospital and South Pointe.
A major challenge of this assignment was the desire to complete the studies for
all three campuses in a two month time period. Working with Orr
Architectural Consulting, Inc. and The Austin Group, Inc. all three studies were
completed on time, outlining major new directions for development at each
campus. Extensive use of the Space Planner
Toolkit and graphic animation modeling assisted the planning team in the
successful execution of this project.
Construction
of a new surgery suite, intensive care and education center was completed in
2004 at South Pointe Hospital. This project was the first phase of a
comprehensive physical strategy for the regeneration of the campus, including
the reorientation of the public entrance, internal upgrades to existing
facilities and definition of future expansion of the campus.
Planning for
Hillcrest Hospital includes a major new patient care tower, surgery and
emergency service expansion and significant
renovation to the existing facilities. The proposed patient tower will
include medical/surgical inpatient units opened in 2006, Women's care, Imaging, Dietary and
other services. Expansion to Oncology and Emergency services will also be accomplished
as a separate project.
Major expansion to the Hillcrest campus is currently under
construction. |
